Industrial Environmental Coalition of Orange County (IEC/OC) holds lunch meetings generally every other month, beginning in January, to educate members on environmental compliance issues. Our meetings feature top speakers from government and industry. These meetings are a great opportunity to get to know business and government representatives who focus on environmental health and safety issues. For 2017, the IEC/OC is planning to coordinate an industrial facility tour with lunch in September.

    Please join us for the kickoff of the IEC/OC Regulatory Committee!


    The Regulatory Committee (RegComm) will focus on influencing the developing environmental regulations and issues specific to Orange County, including regional, state and federal regulations that affect industry members.


    RegComm will provide greater opportunity for active learning and to influence regulatory developments, and to help fulfill objectives in our bylaws:

    •  Educate and inform members regarding current and proposed environmental laws and regulations,  evaluate impact or potential impacts, and assist in practical cost-effective compliance measures.
    •  Take positions on issues, and comment upon and have constructive input into the development,  implementation and enforcement of environmental laws and regulations.
    •  Undertake actions that will benefit industry members.

    We will also be collaborating with other industrial associations on key issues. RegComm actions may include working meetings with agency staff, written comments and participation in hearings.


    RegComm will be open only to members and invited guests, such as agency staff, speakers and recruited non-members.   


    At the kickoff meeting, we will identify Media Chairs (Air, Water, Waste, Sustainability, etc.), establish meeting procedures and develop action items for future meetings.

    Level 2, TMDLs and BMPs

    Topic:

    Join us for our annual review of the latest updates on the General NPDES Permit for Industrial Stormwater Discharges (IGP). The focus will be the Level 2 requirements and TMDLs in the Orange County area. The State Water Resources Control Board will be represented by Rebecca Greenwood. Portions of the presentation will be conducted by Trainers of Record for the IGP Elizabeth Zernik (BSI) and John Gleason (AECOM). Also, common BMPs will be presented as case studies.  There will be time for questions and answers for how the IGP may affect your facility now and in the near future. 


    Industrial facilities that have not met numeric action levels for two years will become Level 2 for those parameters beginning July 1, 2017. The TMDLs to be incorporated into the IGP in the Orange County area will be discussed along with how an industrial facility may be affected by the changes.
